We all know that there are many expenses involved when you plan a camp or retreat. Providing your attendees with opportunities to reduce the cost of their registration is very important for the overall success of your event. Create a solid fundraising plan so that your event is accessible to everyone regardless of their personal financial situation.
Hold general fundraisers to cover your event administrative costs (marketing, event staff, supplies, etc.) and to provide event scholarships:
- Yard sales
- Bake sales
- Take an offering
- Send letters expressing the need, the purpose, and asking for donations
Provide fundraising opportunities for attendees:
- Dinner theaters – get donations for food and supplies needed to reduce your expenses in putting on the event.
- Car washes
- Set up a fundraiser through a fundraising company to make an opportunity for individuals to sell specific items (look for companies that offer a minimum of 40% profit on all items sold).
- Bake sales
- Candy bar sales
Say Thank You!
After your event, be sure to give a great report to everyone who contributed funds towards the event. Do this by sending thank you letters, making special announcements, using social media, and giving opportunities for attendees to express their thanks and talk about how the event impacted them personally.
